Most people read 'Letters to a Law Student' and 'What About Law?' and mention this in their PS. But if you want to make the Admissions Tutor sit up a bit, then read something else that everyone else isnt mentioning.

Some suggestions .....

‘Ashes and Sparks: Essays on Law and Justice’ (Sedley) (essay and articles about specific areas)

‘Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do?’ (Sandel) (American but has some interesting ideas to think about)

And if you just want to introduce some 'ideas' into your PS without the boring 'I've read this book...' tag, them 'A Very Short Introduction : Criminal Justice' discusses some issues about the purpose of the Law and the Legal system that will give you some helpful starting points.

PS The Open University book 'Starting with Law' (available on Amazon) is a very good, straightforward book about the British Legal system, especially useful if you have not done A level Law or are an overseas applicant.
