unless you get some outstanding reference assuring the uni you'll get amazingly better i don't personally hold much faith in Cardiff who want AAA will make you an offer when you get BCC. the only way round would be to not cash in your grades (and thus not declare them on the ucas form) and rely on predicted grades only (which wouls have to be ABB minimum i'd say)

Altho i'm gonna say what my english teacher said to my class - why do you think that you will do better on an exam covering material you haven't studied for 6months or more when you couldn't do well the first time when it was fresh in your head?

the odd module you might be able to do but to bring up BCC will take a fair amount of resits. revising for these will surely distract from your A2 work and thus could effect your A2 results which aren't as easy to resit unless you want to take a gap year.

In our school quite a few people got offers for Cardiff Law even with B/C/D but they usually had maybe, say, one A as well. They give out more offers than they have places so maybe just apply and see how it goes but have some more secure choices in your list as well :smile:

I'm going to have to disagree there. I resat ABC up to AAA with very little effor/work.

BCC for a very very competitive degree (law) that requires AAA? I believe Law with politics/sociology at cardiff is only AAB, and law with french/some other foreign language is BBB but BCC...

I think even if you went to a low school, BCC is not enough. Sorry, there is a big difference between AAA and BCC.
If you can get your teachers to predict you high enough, resit the majority of your AS modules in January and get them up to high A's it's possible to get from BCC to AAA if you put 150% into your work. Does your subject choices have coursework? If so, aim for full marks, same for your exam modules.

EDIT: If you can't get AAA - there are still universities particularly in Wales that will offer law at a lower grade standard such as;

The University of Wales, Aberystwyth - 280 UCAS points, equivalent to BBC

University of Wales, Bangor - 280 UCAS points, equivalent to BBC

University of Glamorgan - 280- 320 UCAS points, equivalent to BBC - ABB

University of Wales, Swansea - 300 - 320 UCAS points, equivalent to BBB- ABB

I got BCD last year, did not enjoy college one bit. This year however I worked hard and with re-sits I got ABB in my A2 levels. When I applied for universities though I could not apply to the better universities, I am now going to NTU to read law this year surpassing my offer by 40 points. I would say if you want to go to a better university consider a third year but be careful some may not look at you if your re-sitting modules. I think it would be to risky to rely on a reference.

Not much chance, but think about some retakes. Stranger things have happened

Cardiff will want grades AAA. Swansea is a good university. According to this table (don't know how accurate this is) it's only four places below Cardiff for Law. http://extras.timesonline.co.uk/gug/gooduniversityguide.php?subject=LAW

You need to ask yourself if getting inflated predictions from your teachers is being fair to yourself, your University, and other applicants.

To turn BCC into AAA is steep.

Why not apply to Cardiff, but also some other Universities with more lenient entrance requirements - y'know, just in case.
