So I have connected my pc to tv to watch some movies, but my question is, is there anyway to freeze my pc screen or something so i can carry on doing things on the pc while the movie is still being played on the tv

So you want your PC to be both playing movies and displaying on the TV and showing up as a regular PC on the monitor?

Depending on your motherboard/graphics card you should be able to run some kind of dual output. Check settings and see what it gives you.
