preparing for uni

Can anyone please help with these two questions as to me they kind of say the same thing...

"Make a list of the things you will need to check with each university and/or college.( include any things particular universities have asked you to provide)"

"Make a list of things that you would like to know more about and any open days that you wish to attend."

They're similar, but not the same.

Things you want to check is things like entry requirements and if your A Levels or equivalent are suitable. You might want to check what the assessment is like (ie how many exams, how much coursework) or what is covered in specific modules/whether you do a certain topic. You might want to know if you can take languages on the side, or if you have free choice of modules.

Things to know more about are generally not course related. You might want to know how far away the town centre/nightclubs are. You might want to know if a specific society is available. What is the accommodation like? What are the library and computing facilities (including location and opening hours)? What food is available on campus?

It's not going to be a disaster if you ask them the other way round, but generally the staff/tutors/lecturers will know about course information, and students will know about social activities. If you ask the wrong person you might not get the best answer, or might just get directed elsewhere anyway.
