Just go to your nearest family planning and they'll give it you there and then? Or just go see the doctor and explain. Don't really see the problem?

Go to a family planning clinic, or register as a temporary patient at a local surgery if that's easier

If you're thinking of going to the pharmacist where you normally he may give you them if it was an emergency I think, but I doubt it. Best thing to do is phone up doctor and ask him to send you a prescription or for him to fax it over to the pharmacy you normally goto, if you get it faxed make sure you take in the prescription to the pharmacy or they wont get paid (even though they cost a few pounds). If not try the above posters ideas.

I would guess that as they've only seen you once, they'd want to check your BP etc rather than just faxing a prescription (I don't even know if they do that!) without seeing you. I don't know if pharmacists are allowed to give out the pill without a prescription either. Best bet is to go to the Family Planning Clinic and they'll sort you out.

You must have had a doctor at home before you went to uni? You can make an appointment there and then register with them as a temporary patient (you just fill out a short form when you turn up for your appointment- your address at home and uni and your uni doctor's details).

If you do that don't see the doctor as it's a waste of their time, it's more usual to see a nurse for contraceptive issues. Just ring up and ask to make an appointment with the nurse for a pill check up. If you get a proper check up done then they should be able to give you 6 months worth once they're happy it's not affecting your blood pressure.

They tend to want to see you every 6 months for a check up to monitor you rather than just hand out repeat prescriptions so this will just become routine from now on.

Well we have sometimes, but we got a fax through. And if the patients surgery is shut, then the pharmacist can give out some emergency supply. Yay I know my stuff:biggrin:

But the patient's surgery is not shut, it's just in a different place, and it's not an emergency because she knows it's going to happen. So there are better ways of dealing with it.
