Illustration 2017 entry

Hi everyone! I was looking and saw that there is no 2017 entry illustration threads

Im currently studying my foundation degree at Northampton and really enjoying it! We just chose our specialisms last week (Ive known for ages ive wanted to do illustration, but means starting next week we will have a personal tutor for our chosen specialism)

My personal deadline for UCAS is the 8th of Dec., The courses I am considering doing (in order of preference) are:
-Middlesex- guaranteed studio space, really good facilities, but said on the open day the acceptance ratio is pretty low (around 5:1 denial:acceptance) and accomadation is pretty expensive. pretty fancy buildings all in close proximity to each other
-Worcester- went to the open day today, the course itself seems pretty interesting and the work being produced was really good, aswell as lots of interesting oppurtunities and good accomadation options,
but the facilities in comparison were a bit lacking and its sort of in the middle of nowhere.
-Northampton- as I already go there im already familiar with the facilties (probably got the best printmaking facilities in the country, multiple mac suites+ theyre building a new swanky campus)
-Coventry- seems to have a good reputation and good oppurtunities but seems very techy (good for some but im more a traditional getting messy sort of artist). not sure its really the course for me and theres no just illustration course
-UAL- going to the open day next monday, seems to have very mixed reviews but the illustration course has a good reputation.

anyway, what courses are you thinking about? feel free to leave suggestions and opinions!

Hi! I'm so happy that you've started this thread  I'm an EU applicant and I'm also applying for illustration this year.
I'm still working on my Personal Statement but I think that it's going to be ready soon so I will send my application before Christmas (I hope!).
One of my choices is also UAL (I've read many positive reviews about the uni) although my biggest goal is Edinburgh College of Art. I'd love to study in Scotland but I've heard that it's so hard to get in because courses seem to be very competitive. My other choices include Falmouth, Glasgow and probably Westminster.
I'm applying to illustration too - Falmouth, Leeds, Bournemouth, Brighton and Anglia Ruskin. Good luck to you guys. (:
I'm applying to Leeds College of Art, Manchester School of Art (MMU), Sheffield Hallam & Liverpool John Moores University. I'm hoping to get into Leeds

Have you sent your portfolio to Glasgow already?
If you have, can you tell me how did you understand the fragment: "Your images must be 200kb or less". I mean, does it refer to every single image of the piece of work put in the power point presentation or does it refer to a JPEG made of every single slide?
I don't know if it is understandable what I wrote above but pleaseee if you know anything about it let me know!

Hi, I have not sent it yet, planning on finishing it tomorrow and sending it tomorrow or Tuesday. The 200kb is for each single JPEG image you put up, not all the images. So when uploading you will have, for example, 25 JPEG images with each individual image being under 200kb. Hope this helps in any way

Is anyone applying to leeds college of art? I'm looking to make a group chat on facebook for 2017 applicants there but I've only met one other person!

My interviews on Friday! see you there I guess

I can never tell what of my work people like, in past interviews they've shown interest in work I don't like and almost didn't bring, so I don't know how to be selective :P

Falmouth interview was okay... it wasn't the conventional type of interview because they've just recently changed how they do it... you speak to 4 people including 1 3rd year student (who was so lovely) each at separate times for about 6 minutes each (it's basically like speed dating lol) I definitely feel like it's going to be hard to get into the course tho as you can just tell the standard of work they are looking for is extremely high!!! I've had AUB in November & that was completely fine, it was a small group interview, was really informal, & the two interviewers were really lovely/ easy to talk to. Got an offer the next day which was good. & then I have Leeds in Feb!! Good luck with all yours!!! let me know if you have any questions as i'll probably have done all mine before yours!

When I went to a open day a while back they told us they took our portfolios of use and looked through them without us then talked to us, I was ready for that structure so when I heard it changed I was taken of guard :P, I wasn't a huge fan of the new structure but I guess its too save them time not for us. Don't think I did very well and Im pretty sure my application's gonna be declined :frown:
Anyone attended Falmouth illustration interview? Ive done mine and im wondering how they will contact us with the results. My 'my Falmouth' login isn't working so if they don't email or put it on ucas then I wont know!
Don't feed the :troll:
