Is There Something Mentally Wrong With Me?

Okay so im well known for having no common sense, although im quite booksmart if I do say so myself. But tonight I was ironing a pair of jeans as I was going out, and the iron wasn't working properly (theres wasn't any water in it) so you know how people touch things to see if they're hot (because it feels nice and a good way of finding out if something is hot or not) ,anyway to test the irons heat i absent mindedly put the iron near my face then actually onto my chin without thinking. Now I have a burn. At the time I didnt realise I was doing it, but there must be something seriously wrong with me if i can absent mindedly put a hot iron on my face, has anyone done anything similar lol? Or should I be seriously worried:confused:

No, i've never felt the urge to put something dangerously hot on my face (it feels like there should be a punchline to that...). It doesn't sound like there's anything seriously wrong with you, it just sounds like you're a bit of a nipple. Stop acting like one and it'll go away.

Oh and in case someone forgot to mention this when you were two:

HOT THINGS GO HURTY HURTY, mmmmkay?

you think thats bad!... once at work I spent 5 minutes trying to mop this patch on the floor, until I realised it was the shadow from a table

Awww I think that's cute:biggrin: .... and maybe a little dorky :p:

Erm OP, well I think you just lost concentration for a while and we all do weird things when we're only semi thinking, so no I certainly don't think there is something "mentally wrong". Perhaps in the future try to remain 100% attentive whilst holding a burning hot device and you may avoid such terrible incidents.

LMAO these replies are hilarious, bluelight you were just not thinking, Id be worried if things like this happened regular but just forget it. Diluted Tcp might help the burn.

Oh yea once I was helping my family to move some long draws from a bedroom to the conservatory and I was carrying one horizontally and I came to the door and I couldn't get it through the door wasn't wide enough so im stood there wondering how my family got the first 2 draws through until my 9 year old brother was behind me with another draw and said 'turn it vertically'. Thick wasn't the word for it.

we all do stupid thing, just recently i got drunk and poored my heart out to a a girl work with about how i feel about her, i felt like such a tit when the feeling was obviously not mutual and went home and started cutting myself.

i'm not mentally ill because of this, i'm mentally ill because my doctor says so .

so the iron situation alone does'nt make you mental.

It's probably just one of those blond moments everyone has. Like looking for your glasses when your wearing them. =)

or trying to push your glasses up your nose when you're not wearing them.

Or 'losing' earmuffs while walking down a corridor. I had them at the beginning, and didn't at the end. Spent a while looking for them before I realised I'd put them on my arm

I regularly pick up the kettle to take it to the fridge, and stand there for a few seconds wondering hazily where it should go. Then only when I actually see the image of kettle-in-front-of-fridge do all the WRONG! bells go off in my brain, and I realise what I'm doing

I've also picked up a searing hot glass tube between finger and thumb without thinking.

...and yesterday, took a blade from a disposable razor and pressed down on one edge to cut something... with the blade upwards.

I could go on, but then I'd be laughed at :p:

Meh don't worry about it.
I do weird **** all the time. Like comb my hair with the comb upside down, damn I do that alot. And a few weeks back I spent about 5 minutes trying to turn my hair straightener on and I was getting really angry, then realised I didnt switch it on at the wall
I lose stuff ALL the time, I have the ****test memory. I have an addiction to hurting myself.
I think we all do weird **** sometimes, I blame it on my blonde hair though
