If you have borrowed some books from the library, drop out of university, and forgot about the books, what would happen?

If you're no longer a student, can they still fine/charge you in some way?

It can go on your permanent record... why not just give them back?

How would you 'forget' a load of books lying around your house with library stickers on them?

The university would have the right to demand the books back, given they don't belong to you. And if you didn't return them, they'd charge you for them. And if you didn't pay up, they'd pursue it through the courts if they were so minded to do so, though I think they'd hope that you'd do the right thing and just return them.

Not returning a library is considered theft.

Why on earth wouldn't you just drop by and hand them in?
