No. Some seminars/workshops whatever you want call them, you may have a time to chat and get to know each other/introdutions.

I had to do that several times when I was doing my University interviews. If it does come to it, just say your name, age and what you've been doing the previous year or something.

Reply 4

I've had to do it in small group stuff, no dramas, if you're that shy you're going nowhere.

In my second year in an education seminar we all had to move around so we were sitting next to someone we didn't know then we had to tell that person our name, our major subject and something interesting about ourselves, luckily if i ever have to say something interesting i just tell them that my school was called Sexey's.

The ONLY time I had to do it was for my first acedemic tutor tutorial - all of us were together (about 8 people) and we had to do a little intro

Reply 7

As drama students we did several "Circle Time" intros. And one of my tutors never stopped mocking my favourite band afterwards :frown:

To be honest, i'm glad they made us do that in college. The idea of doing that to a larger group of people just sounds like a laugh now, a big audience just means you have to do it less times if you think about it...:P

tbh this would probably help those who tend to be shy as they are then forced to introduce themselves, if they are left to do it on their own they may be too embarrassed

Reply 10

... I hate those introduction talks etc. At YMCA, we used to have to say our names and do an interesting and unique action after our name. Then we'd have very embarrassing games to follow up just in case we didn't embarrass ourselves enough. Argh.

First day of sixth form college we had to do speed dating.

In lectures I mean.

I remember at college, we all had to tell the rest of the class "...my name is...and I want study..."

I am dreading that type of thing. :s-smilie:

No. They don't treat you like kids at uni.

Same. My first week was spent sitting in circles. Good to start to get to know people though.

Who is it?? I'm intrigued.

I'm rubbish at intro things, I forget peoples names after about 30 seconds

Well, if anyone does ask me about myself, I'll just drone on and on at length about my current job. (I work in an arcade, that seems to lead to no end of questions!)

I don't mind being asked to introduced myself but I HATE having to say something "interesting" about myself. I never know what to say
