How much does first year count towards the overall degree

How much does first year count towards the overall degree, I've heard it varies between uni. Was curious about Queen Mary and whether it varied between what degree you're doing.

I've heard that 1st year does not count towards your degree and that you just have to pass it to be let into 2nd year.

it varies dependant on degree. I actually think its better if the first year counts towards something because is the easiest out of the three years, and it does really make much of a difference if u get 70% for the year or 50%, because in the long run the differnece is only 2% to ur final degree.

English is 10, 30, 60.

Yes you are right people...in subjects such as Computer Science and Economics 10% of the first yr does count. In law though, it counts for nothing and u only need to pass it to be thru the next yr. But however, how high u get can be an indication as to how likely u are to get an internship in the 2nd year.
