So in just under a few hours the 3rd round draw will be made when the big guns come in, so here is a discussion thread about it.

There's hardly any exciting ties there, very underwhelming draw tbh. It's a struggle to think of which 5 games they'll pick for TV.

West Ham v City
United v Reading
Preston v Arsenal

The other 2 are anyone's guess. Spurs v Villa maybe? Or Cambridge v Leeds?

All about the cold hard cash. Same reason why the big clubs love the Champions League.

Of course. When we played Cambridge a couple of years ago the money they got from the two games was more than their entire turnover for the year.

Several Premier League clubs out today including Bournemouth being dumped out by League one side Millwall. Arsenal also currently losing to Preston, Lincoln came so close to knocking out Championship side Ipswich.

West Brom, Stoke, Everton, West Ham, Bournemouth & Swansea out already.

Will never understand why these clubs don't take the FA Cup seriously when it's their only realistic chance of winning a trophy.

It really isn't. The usual lot- Arsenal, Man U, chelsea and liverpool- win it just as often they win the league. Since Spurs won it in 91 those 4 have won it bar 3 times. 2 are pretty much irrelevant clubs now. Better to focus on PL relevance imo

None of those clubs are going to threaten the top 6 and none are in the relegation battle besides Swansea. Their league seasons are effectively over already, what do they lose by having a go? Watford beat Arsenal last season, we very nearly got knocked out by West Ham who beat Liverpool in the previous round.

You very rarely see two of the top 6 playing each other in the final either. In the last 4 years alone Wigan beat City when nobody gave them a chance, Hull so nearly beat Arsenal and we needed extra time to beat Palace. Arsenal v Villa was the only one sided final we've had in recent years.
