Teeth

Hey,
this has only started bugging me the past couple of years.
I have really wonky teeth, my front teeth are crossing over bigtime and it's horrible :-(
I had a brace when I was 11 but i trod on it and my dad wouldnt let me get another cos of the cost...
I don't REALLY wnt braces now..are there any other options?
Also, if i did get train tracks do you reckon it'd cost?
I've just signed up with an nhs dentist and i am at university.
Please help i look so ugly :-(

Go see a dentist. If he recommends braces then get them! They shouldn't cost too much - be glad we have an NHS

I would see a dentist about it ASAP and see what they recommend.

I got my braces almost 3 and a half years ago:mad: when I was 15 and I was told they would be on 18 months, making me almost 17 when they came off.Which was fine.Im now,19 on Wednesday and they still arent off.Im worried that they will remember my age and start charging me,so I cant mention they will HAVE to be off by the time I start uni at the end of Sept.

The cost,if there is any, would be well worth it though.Better than a life of miserableness if your teeth are wonky!

Braces are pretty much the only option..

If your teeth really bother you then you should really consider having braces again, because otherwise its something you'll be conscious about for the rest of your life and will end up knocking your self confidence.

Braces arent that bad..I was given the choice whether to have them or not, as my teeth werent really that noticably wonky..in the end i chose to have them. I actually sort of began to like them in the end..
I had them on or 6months, and my teeth are so much better now!

Ok, so they might be a bit of a pain, but surely the overall results ar worth it? You can get coloured ones and all that if you dont like how they look etc, but personally I dont think they look that bad!

My teeth aren't perfectly aligned but if you dont look extrmely closely you wont notice. It helps that i keep them very very white. So i suggest you do the same. At one point I brushed them 3 times a day!! Now i just brush the normal 2 times and if i forget, they hardly ever tarnish.

I feel that if your gums are healthy and your teeth are exceptionally white then they wont look so bad.

But really you should get braces. They are different types which can be inconspicuous if you are that worried about them showing up

Hi just thought I would put a few things straight.
You get free NHS treatment up to 16, or up to 19 if you are in education. After that it is means tested. The NHS will not give yor braces for cosmetic reasons, only for a medical problem. My NHS Dentist told me to wait untill I was 16, then when I was 16 then he told me to 'rack of'. So i changed Dentist, they sent me to Dentist at Hospital and then they said no again. You can rate my teeth as I am on the front of the Uni prospectus then I noticed how bad they were!!!
Also if your treatment started before 16/19 then as far as I know you wont have to pay for any charges relating to the braces if you dont get free NHS.
Go to your Dentist, tell him the score see what he says!

I had it done on the NHS when I was 18 through to 20. Only thing I regret is having to wait so long.
