Yessssssssssssssssssss!

Cant decide between 4 and 4.5 stars (always my problem) but as a fan of bond-type movies i really liked it! i'd also recommend the Dustin Hoffman Marathon Man

Ah so glad you liked it! It's SO good, I went into it wondering if it was overrated or accurately rated as it has such a reputation, but I found it absolutely worth the hype. I'll check out Marathon Man thanks, I don't think I've ever heard of that one

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)

Had seen this a few times before, but was randomly on TV earlier today. Zany comedy which makes use of Jim Carrey's talents adequately for some time, but the plot is pretty thin and you grow tired of the childishness after a while. When you compare it to his other two films of 1994 (The Mask and Dumb & Dumber), it stacks up as a pretty lacklustre offering..

4/10

it's nowhere near as good as Hoffman's other films Midnight Cowboy, The Graduate and Rain Main but is a similar type of film!

A Clockwork Orange - 8.5

Taken 3

enjoyable thriller... exciting chase scenes & violence. the baddies come off worse :borat:

7/10
Glory - 9/10

An historical drama that matches with historical facts, that is fine! an inspirational and emotional (almost too emotive) film, bolstered with impressive pictures and passionate black young actors at that time (Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman). The black pride is within spectator's grasp, good staged atmosphere!

Fractured - 6/10
After (2019) - 4.5/10
Krampus - 5.5/10

Lock Stock etc

surprisingly good... laughs aplenty amid the extreme violence. :gangster:

The Innocents - 8
Creepy, atmospheric 60s horror about paranormal possession of children.

ReAnimator - 5
Heard good things, but i found it to be kinda weak & disappointing.

Desperado - 8
Not seen this in years. It's still super entertaining from start to finish. Young salma hayek :dice: :donut:

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari - 4 stars - the first horror film

Koyaanisqatsi - 3.5 stars - a cult experimental film, i'm surprised it isn't more polarising

Stunning. I watched it three times and thought it was just as good as Koyaanisqatsi.
10/10

are you still around on TSR? wanted to find someone else who has seen Koyaanisqatsi which i've just watched for the first time : ) the sequels have been heavily criticised!

Highlander - 6.5
Hey, it's a kinda magic. Well, it was during my youth. Now, I see it's a bit all over the place, unconvincing scots accents too. Barmy entertainment overall.

2001: A Space Odyssey - 9
Full Metal Jacket - 9

Seen them before, but not in a while. Both top tier, must-see war / sci-fi films.
Das Leben der anderen (Engl.: The Lives of Others) - 9/10

From the German films I know - also the ones about German history! - this is one of the best: It has a good cinematography for German circumstances, good and convincing main actors (remarkable: Ulrich Mühe!), a compassionate plot with reference to the essentials. And it is not about the Nazis, but the Stasi in GDR this time! precious in any case.
Enola Holmes - 8/10
Good humour, action and plot.

The House at the End of the Street, not scary in the slightest and the plot twist was just sad, 3/10

Reply 1997

The Meg (2018) a movie about sharks.
The Theory of Everything - 9/10

A great biographical film about one of the greatest (astro-)physicist ever lived on earth. An oscar awarded Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawking gives the spectators a good lesson in love, will to live and physics.

The Seventh Seal (1957) - 3.5 stars

Persona (1966) - 3 stars

A strong recommend to cinephiles for both; a strong anti-recommend to anyone else tbh.
