War for the Planet of the Apes

6/10

+ve's mainly for the c.g.i., main cast acting and entertainment factor.

Failed for me with the ruthless manipulation of children to elicit an emotional response and abysmal portrayal of the final battle scenes, where modern weapons and tactics are depicted in a laughably unrealistic manner. Also the closing scenes, showing how the humans are finally defeated, felt like a cheap cop-out; a total betrayal of the original 1960's movie where Taylor discovers humanity destroyed itself in a nuclear Armageddon.

Disappointed with this, leaves out a lot of the character development and overall just feels rushed.

Be Kind Rewind (2008)-9/10
Despite starring Jack Black this film was less of a comedy than I thought, it's more of a heartwarming drama. It loses a point as some of the jokes fall flat but it's a very entertaining film that I recommend.

Chinatown (8/10) - as far as neo-noir films go I prefer L.A Confidential, but this was an excellent screenplay cleverly directed by Polanski.

Logan - 6/10

Another mostly boring comic book movie. I don't even know why I keep watching these. This one was over two hours as well...
