I watched Nightcrawler again about a week ago. Excellent film

But yeah Whiplash is my 2nd favourite film. Love it. However I can understand the thing about wanting a likeable character, it's the same reason I don't like Ferris Buellers Day Off. I think that is a film where you definitely should have a likeable main character but I couldn't stand Ferris

Yeah there's a big difference between a film about unlikeable characters and simply not liking characters in a film. Movies like 12 Years a Slave would have significantly less impact if the protagonist was a horrible person, for example :ahee: But for me films should be about interesting and engaging characters, I honestly couldn't care less if they're all amoral sociopaths as long as the film is able to justify that by being interesting and engaging.

I actually agree with that, now that I think about it.

I would strongly recommend giving it another watch with this mindset (not immediately, just if you ever get a chance to revisit it). You don't have to cheer them on as they act like dicks, but the decisions they make and the direction they take story make a lot more sense when you acknowledge them for the dicks they are. For me it's one of the few films I consider verging on a 10/10 score and I honestly think it will be looked back on as one of the best films of the decade.

Nerve - 6.5/10

I quite enjoyed this film. Good premise, straight out a Black Mirror episode, in fact there is an episode very similar, film was quite tense at times and I enjoyed the characters. Downsides were it was a little unrealistic at times and some stuff didn't make sense and finally the ending, I simply don't believe the crowd at the end would react like that to what was happening and I feel they should have went for a darker ending than the one they went with. Decent watch though.

Pan's Labyrinth - 9/10

A really, really weird and creepy movie which isn't normally my type of genre, but it is really extremely well done; very creative and combines history with fantasy in an interesting way. It's fairly unpredictable and kept me on the edge of my seat (or hiding behind a pillow) throughout the entire movie. It's definitely a bit gory and depressing, but it's just a beautifully composed film. (In Spanish but has English subtitles)

No but now you mention it there's elements of that in it too. This movie is basically a combo of like 3 different BM episodes

Have you seen the film? I was more thinking the one with the boy and the webcam and the anonymous people sending him tasks to do.

Yaaah that one  Meh I felt bad for him, he was a decent fella, and he wasn't actually acting on anything, he knew it was wrong. But yeah pretty messed up at the same time.

Yup that's the film. I'd say it's worth a watch, I enjoyed it, I think Black Mirror does it better tbh but if you like one you'll still like the other

I mean he had his urges but he kept them to himself, and take that away and he's a good kid. Didn't really deserve all that happened to him. Hahah that's maybe not what you'd put in your twitter bio... "You may know me as that pedo"

Ooh that is a fun fact, he's basically Sherlock, your favourite person, so how could you hate him? I've not seen Imitation Game yet though :frown:
