La La Land (7.5/10)

I felt like it was a musical for people who don't like musicals because it didn't have enough songs (6) which surprised me given it's 128 minutes long (could've been shorter). Despite paying so much homage to when Hollywood musicals were hugely popular (e.g. Singin' in the Rain), neither Emma Stone nor Ryan Gosling could sing or dance particularly well. However, Emma Stone's outstanding performance, and Chazelle's directing (impressed by the fact that the musical numbers were done in one take) were the best things about it.

I'm probably being more critical than I would've been if there wasn't so much awards/audience hype. Might enjoy LLL more the next time I see it.

La La Land - 7/10

I think I kinda messed up here and gave up too early  The first half of the film didn't really grab me at all and I was beginning to wonder why I thought I would actually like a musical love story. But 2nd half of the film I could feel it getting better but by that point my attention had already started to wander so it probably didn't impact me as much as it could have if I kept giving it full attention. I may go back and start watching from halfway through again at some point

You need to! i may have been slightly biased because i love Emma Stone but still!

Trainspotting - 8.5/10
How haven't I watched this before?

Passengers 9/10.

Rogue One, 9/10 absolutely loved it. Nailed the level of seriousness with war theme and style of humor to make it an amazing story whilst still being able to show to 12+ audiences and make it interesting to them. Screw the weird gimmicky ball thing from 7, the robot in this was much better. Also no BS in this one like the character style in 7 and stuff that doesn't make sense like a extremely well trained force user having his ass kicked by someone who just found out they had the force, characters were brilliant in this.

Hidden Figures - 8/10

Wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, but powerful film about 3 black women trying to make it at NASA in the 60s who became very important figures in the space race. Trying to finish all the 2016 movies so I can make a top 10 list, this would make it on thus far.

Deadpool - 6/10

I think it was a bit silly, they tried a bit too hard to make it into a comedy and I thought the action scenes were okay at best.

And they broke the fourth wall way too many times, I know it was a thing in the comics but that annoys me lol

Pumpkinhead - 10/10, can see why it's a cult classic, Stan Winston's props are masterful too. Love it

Last night we watch Girl On The Train and I thought it was brilliant even though the reviews weren't so great. Personally I'd give it a 4/5.

Jackie - 7.5/10

Silence - 8/10

Hacksaw Ridge - 8.5/10

Posted in the 52 films thread already but after a cheesy opening half an hour, film gets great once he gets to the army camp. Maybe would have liked to see what happened afterwards a bit more but really good film.
