I'm not how how the 36-37 in the IB would compare to which grades at A level, but studying biology will probably give you an advantage because they do tend to look for people with scientific backgrounds of some kind. Have a look in the prospectus and it will tell you in there the grades you need to get ideally.

I don't know how the IB compares to A Level grades, but I got an offer of AAB from York and I don't think that's gone up at all. However, because they get so many applicants, they prefer people to have 2 science A Levels (Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths)...

According to the website, the usual offer for IB is "Diploma with an overall score of 36 points and grading of at least 6 in two science subjects." so you may need to do another science subject. (However, they may include maths as a science subject, in which case you'd be fine)

Do some work experience! That'll definitely help. I had no sciences but got an AAB offer, so I think it must have been my work experience that got me the offer.
