Anyone else like The Smiths but dislike Morrissey

I've gotta be in the right mood to listen to The Smiths but I do love them. Morrissey is a tool though.
I like them, as above you have to be in the mood. I don't like the most miserable songs.
I think he just had an ego originally, and knew he had ability. Nothing wrong with that.
Then, as an introvert and intellectual, got thrust into limelight and a lot of arse kissing. It's not surprising he struggled with it IMO.
He takes himself seriously, and has a persona he is defined by I guess.
