My uni has a "ringfenced" version of Turnitin which you can use to check work before you submit. It checks against the standard Turnitin database, but doesn't submit the work you check - nor does the pre-submission Turnitin score get reported to staff.

Ask your course leader whether your uni has a similar facility. It's called 'Turnitin try-it-out'. At my uni it's managed by library specialists, so it's worth checking your uni's library intranet page or emailing your department's specialist librarian.

Not plagiarising to begin with is a pretty good way to check that you haven't plagiarised.

Hello,

Technically you can use TurnItIn before you actually submit if - if you submit if before the deadline then it will give you the plagiarism and then you can have a chance to alter things and re-upload if you like, a resubmitted piece of work can take 24 hours to appear so make sure you do it in time but technically one of the posters is right!

Hey,

Unplag is a good one, you can try its free version to check your draft for plagiarism before you submit it to your teacher.

Not necessarily. Lecturers can disable this feature from appearing to the students. It's best to ask first!
