well, they range from usually 4/5 - 15 - 15 is v.hot, so I would say go for 13.5, as you will not be at uni in the peak of summer, and you can always sleep in a sheet if its too hot, and sheet+duvet if its very cold.

I'd go for the warmest one...if it's hot enough that you're uncomfortable in summer then you'll probably only want a sheet (if anything) over you.

Reply 3

Great thanks, I'll order it fortwith.

I think Argos has a feather one on sale, could be comfortable

I wouldn't go for the the thinnest or the thickest, as uni halls tend to be fairly well heated. I got one of the ones that are a thick and a thin duvet that you could 'button' together, it wasn't any more expensive than the ordinary types and it meant that I could have a thin, thick or a REALLY thick one lol. It was also handy if I had people staying over, as I could unclip it and I had two single duvets.

Can't you just take the one from your bed at the moment?

Reply 7

i went for the 13.5 tog but then i do get quite cold

Reply 8

I went for 4.5tog as I get really warm

Reply 9

I'm taking a thick one and a thin one. Sorted!

Reply 10

Why not just go for a medium one - 10.5?

Reply 11

Last year I had a thin one (not sure exactly what tog), and couldn't sleep properly as I was always cold. I now have a 13.5 tog, and in summer it's too hot but in that situation, I just kick it to the floor - at least I know that in winter I'll be able to sleep.

I bought one which was in two parts that fastened together so you get the choice of thin duvet, thick duvet or extra thick duvet. M&S and not that expensive either

Reply 13

Do you need to buy a duvet? Don't your halls provide you with one?!

Mine didn't. Best to check what is provided by your halls.

Reply 15

I might buy a double 4.5 tog for my single bed and if its cold wrap the whole thing round me and it's hot it's still thin and half can dangle off the bed!

Reply 16

Mine don't provide them either...

I think mines somewhere around 10... Its the one i've used for all 3 years, and its just about right for all the seasons.

I have a 13 tog duvet and a thin (surprisingly warm) fleecy blanket, which do the trick.

Reply 18

fleecy blankets rock - especially great after coming in from a freezing cold night out!

I have a 12.5 for uni plus a throw get uber cold in the winter and plus I can use the throw if its too hot. Never like the two duvet thing always ended up under poppering n looking like a mess. As said if its too hot use a sheet.
