S1 Work out the mean of Continuous data from table, where have I gone wrong?

Here is my solution:

I have attached the question to the bottom of this post (from physicsmathstutor).

I got the sum of fx to be 1580.5, whilst the mark scheme (I attached it too) got it to be 2055.5. Why did I go wrong? To work out the midpoints, I added the numbers in the class width and divided by two.

Thanks

You did 18 + 29 = 47, when you should have done 18 x 29 = 522
