Edexcel Chemistry Unit 1 Jan 2010 Question

This is probably a very easy question but somehow I don't understand it:frown:

The graph below shows the second ionization energy of a series of elements with
consecutive atomic numbers. Which one could be Lithium?

I know it is second ionisation energy... but I still dont understand... Is it bad??:frown:
I am self-studying this and I am really nervous because my books don't seem to have covered this:confused::confused::confused:

haha, dont worry. Its second IE which means the second electron is removed from a inner shell, which means more energy needed as there is greater attraction! :smile:

Is Lithium the highest because it is the one that will have a new shell broken into when the second electron is being removed??:s-smilie:
