Ph.Ds don't have 'assignments' as such (maybe you could class a first year report as an 'assignment', or a poster) The 'assignment' is the 80,000 word thesis at the end, and your supervisor and to a lesser extent mentor are there to help you with this. I'm not sure what you mean by 'enough' help...

Sorry, I was referring more to assignments required prior to the final dissertation. It would seem that support staff such as supervisors don't have enough time or resources to assist students especially those whose English is not their 1st language.
