How would you market a year of military experience when applying for a job?

Stellar grades an UG level (90%) and ranked 2nd in a class of 170, experience as a private tutor, and serving 1 year in the military. Yet I failed to land any internship whilst at uni. I know...

However, I have been admitted to study at Warwick MSc Fin and Econ and was offered a scholarship

So when applying for jobs, am I a goner, or does the tutoring experience and the military exp give me something unique, that other applicants would most likely do not have?

Any opinion on the matter is of great value
