Would that count as just one of my 5 a day? Or am i right in thinking that it counts more than just one fruit?

You can only count juice once towards your 5-a-day. I think that's because it doesn't have all the fibre of the fruit itself - link (hopefully) coming...

    Here you go:
A glass of 100% juice (fruit or vegetable juice) counts as 1 portion. But you can only count juice as 1 portion a day, however much you drink. This is because it has very little fibre. Also, the juicing process 'squashes' the natural sugars out of the cells that normally contain them, which means that drinking juice in between meals isn't good for your teeth.

No, it only counts as one. You can only count fruit juice as one anyway because it generally doesn't contain as much fibre as the fruit - the 'pulp free' juices have barely any and the idea is to increase your intake of vitamins and fibre through fruit. Also, it's generally stated that any one kind of fruit or veg, no matter how much of it you eat, can only count as one of your portions because you are supposed to eat a variety of fruits and veggies, and not just one kind.

Also, drinking that much fruit juice a day would probably start dissolving your teeth.

If you blend the fruit instead of 'juice' it, does it help with rettaining the natural sugars' shape and fibre?

Hmm. What about smoothies? The sort of things which are basically an entire fruit but liquidised? :p:

Quite clever here because what happens in the commerical processing is they shove all the fruit in but the machine like domestic ones are designed to take out the pith, core, skin etc, and thus the fibre!

And a lot of smoothies are made up with apple or orange juice etc...

It would still count as one portion if it was from concentrate, as it still has *most* of the vitamins in it. However much you drank though, it would still only be one portion, because of the sugars/fibre issue.
