Well I've been fasting for three days (detox thing) and I'm still alive :p:

Not eating at all for 3 days is not good.

No not really, you should be combining a well balanced diet with exercise. The recommended intake is 2000 kcals for women and 2500 for men. 1000 kcals sounds too low to me. Are you trying to loose weight or something?

well only a little, 5 pounds maybe. heard it way an easy way to lose weight

i can comfortably live on 1000 cals a day, even when exercising heavily. it does result in a small weight loss, but lots of people manage to lose weight eating between 1200-1600 cals a day so you might be able to afford to eat a lot more and still lose weight.

it's probably safest to stick to about 1200, i only know that i can safely eat 900/1000 calories a day because i did so under nutritional supervision, but not everyone's bodies can deal with it.

still, it's not particularly dangerous i wouldn't think, it's only 200 calories below the recommended 'safe' amount of calories to eat when losing weight.

I dont think it would be dangerous, for a while at least, but its probarbly not very sustainable. If you are used to eating much more than that you will feel starving, plus when you go back to your normal calorie intake you will most likely put any weight you lost straingh back on. Maybe its good for you if you do it to detox for a while though

Eating that little will probably drastically lower your metabolism, causing you often to feel tired and lacking energy. Consuming more, at regular intervals, maintains your metabolism rate and could result in a greater degree of fat loss.

Reply 9

It won't kill you. I've done it before and it is maintainable providing you are eating a balanced diet.

Reply 10

Its do-able but what you have to remember is that when you return to your normal eating habits after the weight loss you will pile it back on probably twice as fast as you lost it, thats what happened to me anyway so if your looking at loosing the weight and maintaining it then you need to be looking it to a healthier lifestyle overhaulnot just a quick diet.

I ate 1000 kcals for a few weeks and did lose a bit of weight. It made me have headaches and feel tired but it was o.k. after a couple of weeks.

You're supposed to have 2000 cals a day if you're female, and 2500 (I think) if you're male. Don't cut out calories. You should get your calories from healthy food, rather than chocolate and such (although a little bit isn't going to do you any harm).
