    Simple enough - which college has the "comfiest" rooms?

    * Size
    * Standard
    * Network-points
    * Thick walls (less noice)

    Very difficult to answer.

    Some colleges have decent rooms all round such as Trevs

    Others, such as Castle have the worst 1st year rooms, but finalists get something positively palatial.

    yeah, I guess that could be problem, I'd probably say decent level for both years, but can't help being a little drawn to the idea of palatial rooms...

    The hill colleges probably have slightly better rooms than the bailey

    Collingwood, Trevs, Mildert, and Grey are known to have good rooms, Marys is a mixed bag, and Aidans is quite good as well.

    The main problem with answering your question, is that as the Uni renovates these rooms, what are currently the worst, will shortly be the best. It would be better to look for yourself nearer the time.

    Please send cans of beer care of Trevelyan College. I would ask for pints, but they tend to spill in the post

    From the prospectus (2005 entry) I read that:

    Most single rooms:
    Van Mildert 100%
    Collingwood 96%
    Grey 92%
    Trevs 91%
    St Mary's/Hild-Bede 88%
    St Aidans/University 83%
    St John's 78%
    Hatfield 76%
    St Chad's 51%
    St cuthberts 40%

    Most En suite single rooms:
    Collingwood 37%
    Van Mildert 27%
    Hatfield 24%
    Grey 22%
    Trevs 18%
    St Mary's 16%
    St Aidan's 14%
    St Chad's 7%
    University 1%
    Cuths/HB/Johns 0%

    From this, making a sum of these:
    1. Collingwood and Van Mildert
    2. Grey
    3. Trevs
    4. Marys/Hatfield
    5. Aidans
    6. University/Hild Bede
    7. Johns/Chads
    8. Cuth's

    I guess I have a bit too much time....

    Can anyone say about the size of the rooms?

    What you don't know though is how many rooms are availible to 1st years, and what proportion are reserved for postgrads/finalists/4th years etc

    Ask the college secretaries. Current students can give a rough idea, but for a definitive answer you will need to ask members of college staff.

    You can choose - at the moment Castle basically guarantees everyone accommodation for two years.
