# Graph of log function watch

1. Hi guys,
I'm not sure whether this is correct the values look suspect?

ok, question is to sketch a graph of function y= -2 log5 x

I choose 4 x co-ords, 2,4,6 and 8. Then worked out the corresponding y
co-ords to be.

x y
2 -0.8
4 -1.6
6 -2.4
8 -3.2

I calculated y by using a change of base formula. e.g. loge2/loge5 for x cord 2.

Is this solution correct??

*awaits with bated breath*

gav
2. Yes, that is the correct way to calculate logarithms of a different base. However your answers seem a bit weird, the numbers I got are:

x y
2 -0.86
4 -1.72
6 -2.23
8 -2.58
3. was pressing loge on the calc rather than ln. im getting your answers too.

Thanks for the help.
