    Herriot Watt as well

very good prospects, salaries vary across the board though and are highest at the consultancies in the City

its not the only route into the job though - maths graduates are popular amongst the profession as well, sometimes more popular than those doing actuarial science as they'll be more rounded

by the way, its "Actuarial Science" that you would be studying, and when you qualify you would be an "Actuary"

I'd recommend doing a science or social science degree at Oxbridge or LSE. It's a good stepladder to a job as an actuary.

that's not particularly true if it lacks in maths content - you need to be able to be very comfortable with integration and differentiation for the exams

personally I'd recommend, maths, physics, economics or a mixture of these - these are the better stepping stones
