Hope this is the right place for this
Was bought a share in Man City as a prezzie, now keep getting letters about the take over. Do I have to sell? Just ignoring them ATM

    You have 1 share?

I bet they love you, having to sends expensive letters to you and your 1 share!

If enough other people approve the takeover, then it'll be taken over. If it is approved, then only way you'd be able to sell is if you sent them your share certificate, which would presumably defeat the object of having it? Then you'd be sent a cheque for 12 and a half p or something.

I dunno, presumably it'd be detailed in the letters they've sent you.

However when someone controls a huge share of a company, they can insist that they other shareholders sell at market value etc. So it is possible, but reasonably unlikely.
