You gotta be really good to gamble for real

It's a learned art, seriously. You learn tricks of the dealer, opponents and for yourself tbh.

I know some that gambled on slot machines and lost grands it's online slots btw

I never have done online, so shady, and I never look at that probability stuff. The real Gs learn in real games, no offense.
does anyone in this thread acc gamble? I'd love to chat about black jack and ace of spades, 8 ball, 9ball...always looking to learn

O hai dere.

And yea thats so true about not tryna win back losses. That's normally how it starts, that impulsive desperation then addiction then debt and the cycle :\ I normally walk away after I get what I bet or close enough, or try to breakeven. If I leave with less than I came with I get lowkey depressed. If I leave with more than I came with even if it's not a lot or if I lost a lot, it's a good day.

There have been some times though of course when I get angry and double down on a bet (blackjack) and stay at the table for more hands than I bargained for. But most of the time I keep a cool head, bet no more than like £50-200 for each hand and I'm just a G with it really, never lost too much money  My average accumulated wins for about 10 hands in low stakes blackjack for example is £1,050  :spade: but normally when I stay at the table I lose most of it and leave with about 1/2 that :\ still better than 0.

*wrong smiley lol :suits:

Tbh whenever I've tried to win back loses it works then I lose it by pushing my luck 😩 I just get well annoyed seeing all those people with accas getting like £2000 from £1 😡😩

I'm not 18 yet 👀 so I only do online betting usually on sports and I've realised that I barely cash out on profits 😩 Must be like -£40 by now, if you include winnings ive staked, I've definitely lost over £500 so that gets me a little sad but then again it makes me enjoy football more otherwise I only pay attention to arsenal.

I've only played blackjack with candy poker chips (not fun.), never played it online since it's clearly rigged. You sound like quite the player tho 😉

No *you* sound like a player, check you out eh  Nah accas are acc fair, the more you bid the higher the chances but it's also higher stakes. So I don't really bet on like footy and horses and that, I just gamble over games I play myself against mates, strangers and round table. Then it's something I can sort of control without getting into too much debt.

And yea I just won £200, this thread got me itching for a quick match with someone who I know gambles :colone:. He was the dealer. I told him we'll play 3 hands, kept my bids for each hand at 150 quid each, won black jack my first hand , he had a Bust the 2nd hand, I had a Bust the 3rd hand, then asked him for one more hand at 200 and won it back the 4th hand. Luckily he took it well lol I've got into bad fights over ****ing pool and dice smh.
It depends how much they lose or not. I imagine regular ganlers who lose a lot and are addicted arent too happy. Not all but definitely some.

This made me a bit sad. Fixed odd betting machines are killers.

blackjack is simple, I can tell you the basic rules (I play in person with cold money not casino chips or whatever)

the goal is for the card faces/values to add up to 21.

you bet in 50 quid increments, 50, 100, 150...usually, as far as I know

How I play:

the dealer passes out two cards each hand

royal cards are 10
Ace is 11
no matter if it's hearts, diamonds, spades or clovers

ie: a hand of 2 club and jack diamond is 12

if you get two of the same value, call for a Split. You don't have to. But a Split can up or risk your chances, since you bet the same bid on each card individually. You can gain more or lose more.

the ways you can up your chances is keeping your hand, which is called a Stand

Or you can risk/up your chances by askin the dealer for a Hit, and he passes another card.

If it adds up to 21 on the 1st go, that's a Black Jack. You get your bid.
If it adds up to 21 after you ask for a Hit, not a blackjack but you get your bid no matter what the dealer has in his hand
If it adds up passed 21 its a Bust, you lose. Dealer wins his bid.
If Dealer has a Bust he loses, you win your bid.

If you Surrender, you take half your bet if the Dealer Busts or if his hand is less than your hand with the card sum

If you Double Down that means you doubled your bet with another Hit

If you ask for Insurance that means you think the dealer has an Ace and you think with his next hit/card pick he will Bust or have less than your current hand.

Those are basics lol

*Oh if you and the Dealer have the same amount that's a Push so you don't win or lose

I would do card games and stuff but I'm terrible, it's just luck for me but I do like that sense of control because next time you can actually learn from your mistake, kind of… and because you're there, you can influence it which is better than just screaming at the TV lol

Woah lucky you  looks like Santa came early. Love seeing fights around the pool table at the pub  happens way more often than you'd think

Tbh your mum sounds like she has an addiction. probably dperessed, but she may have been beforehand. A few gamblers are ood and can stay ahead, but there is that saying they never talk about their losses.

You dont really give much detail about yourself but contact the above and they can advise you. She may have an addiction in which case its very difficult for you to get her off it, its up to her but she cna know there are people who will help her. Sounds like its a sign of desperation and also loneliness. Sorry it sucks to be a gamble when you cnat afford the losses.

you have all the chance in the world because you never know what card you're going to get

Any addiction is a symptom of an underlying insecurity. However, if you gamble "responsibly" than that is a different matter...

True mum should try that
Gambling is a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't do it regularly or even with half-serious amounts of cash, but I do enjoy the thrill. I could see why gambling makes some depressed, however I don't think the majority of people who gamble are. Gambling is everywhere in our lives. The stock market, something which underpins capitalism, is more or less a very structured gambling mechanism. I and many others love the calculating part of gambling, followed by the thrill of win/fail.

Everyone gambles everyday, we take risks with everything. I would say the majority of risk takers are energetic, happy people. By walking past a car exhaust, you, in a very small way, increase your chance of contracting cancer. Do most people think twice about this? No, because the risk is too small to consider. But it demonstrates one of the many ways in which chance is all around us, acting on us everyday. Gamblers just like a little control over it IMO.
