I don't think you're 'meant to be happy', it's just a side-effect of a holiday that involves sparkly decorations, food, family and presents. It was a pagan midwinter festival before it was xtian after all.
If you're not a Christian you shouldn't be celebrating Christmas anyway. Christmas is a time of goodwill, a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, and atheist liberals have turned it into a day centered around money and greed.

You are supposed to be happy in it. Why do they say " merry christmas" ?. It's so phony in my opinion that "holiday" and all other holidays.

It's a christian holiday , it's a religious "holiday" , and like all "holidays" it's a fantasy and a fairy tale.

It's just a 'blessing'; you're saying that you hope they are happy. It's not a command! I don't think there's anything phony about wishing for people to be happy.

Still not true
You don't think it's phony to set a special day in the calendar that is somehow special and "holy " ( again , nothing is "holy", it's all inventions of religious people) in which you are supposed to be happy for no reason other for that being a "special and holy" day.

I don't think any of those things are true (or true in all cases) about the day no, I've already set out the reasoning. Anyway, if you don't want to celebrate it you don't have to. There will be no Santa Inquisition.
I have mixed feelings about Christmas. I do like the Christmas spirit of kindness and generosity although I do wish people just did that every day. The consumerism and "traditional" parts I hate though it's disgusting enough on an average day but Christmas highlights it more than anything.
I'm probably more of a Grinch type than the embodiment of Christmas spirit so many people go nuts over it lol
