Is this thread ever going to get back on track? I keep checking back to see if there is any more info on the accomodation only to find more talk on muggers and tough guys!
BronBron...who do you think you are coming from Cowleyfornia....arnold schwarzenegger.........i can fight and i can run...but if a group of lads with knives come up to ya...it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know what to do.
I'm from Cowley which is in Oxford. Cowleyfornia is a play on words. I'm 6'3" and do martial arts and am yet to test my skills because I know how to stay away from fights and to avoid being robbed.
BTW Aristademis you don't like basketball do you? coming from chi-town?

I liked basketball until Kobe Bryant ruined it. Chicago's not really a basketball town. Hell the Bulls were in the playoffs last season and no one noticed much. Jordan was basketball to Chicago and once he left for good, no one payed attention. It's baseball first, football second, then a tie between hockey and basketball.

The accommodation to my knowledge is fine I know someone who lived there a few years ago and another last year and there were no complaints whatsoever. I think the only bad thing about accommodation would be if your flat is on the ground floor, I just think it's cooler if you're higher up like myself and there's probably less chance of your flat being robbed right!

What's wrong with Kobe? I thought if anyone you'd be hating on Wade and Lebron. Well I'm sure if you see me on campus we'll have an interesting discussion

Hey Bronbron...are you at QM already? I was wondering what types of martial arts clubs they have there, and if so, do you go to any?

Nah I'm not yet. I really would like to do tae kwon do if not I would like to do muay thai or judo cos I am rubbish when it comes to grappling. What about yourself, interested in anything specifically?

yes mate... Olly Betts....facebook....i will be studying environmental geography....all about climate change and various issues relating to that. Quite relevant in todays society!
I have been. Twice. One guy got a broken nose and the other was simply ridiculed until he fled. Is the adult diaper industry fourishing in your country, because you make it sound like you all **** your pants each time you get a funny look?
That said, if you're stupid enough to walk alone in a shady area or flaunt your wares, you're begging to get mugged regardless of whatever weapon they may possess. If you're with a group of people and you all stand there and let yourselves be bullied, then I don't know what to tell you.
hehe "ridiculed till he fled"? what was he ten or something? lmao
I dont think were still discussing this but I couldnt reply till now, I agree with you on the whole "guns are worse" etc fair point but my beef is more with the fact the the law doesnt seem to do much to help with this sort of thing and victims can often end up punished worse than the criminals for defending themselves. Its all very odd
I could run but Im too hot headed and I dont like to look cowardly, thing is im short AND skinny so if I tryed to fight I would probably be snapped in half.
As to "accomodation sucks" im afraid to say that most accomadation sucks even my house sucks, I reckon I could trump a fair number of people for staying in crappy accomadation lol. Thing is though a female freind of mine was staying at the halls in UWE which are really very nice indeed but the regulations imposed for keeping them nice are so petty you can end up with a "warning lecture" for putting blutack on the wall...... lame really.

No,no. I don't know what the hell he was thinking. He and one of his thug buddies thought it would be a good idea to mug me and another guy. What they failed to realize was that three of our friends were about 40 yards behind us. 5 drunk and rowdy guys versus 2 guys and a knife. It was a bit comical.

Yeah, that blows. It'll probably take a member of parliament's children being injured before they act on it.

I'm short, hairy, stocky, ill-tempered...yes, I have Welsh ancestors.

The first dorm I lived in had no air conditioning, no ethernet ports (it was a year or two before broadband caught on), had filthy, fruit-fly infested shared bathrooms...but it was one of the best experiences I ever had. We were forced to not stay in our rooms and mingle. It was awesome. I hope I can duplicate it this year.

That's a good point we should either be out having fun or working in the library! Not sleeping or browsing tsr
Pétanque (pronounced [pe.tɑ̃k] in French) is a form of boules where the goal is to throw metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden ball called a cochonnet (jack). The game is normally played on hard dirt or gravel, but can also be played on grass or other surfaces. Sandy beaches are not suitable. Similar games are bocce and bowls.
i've played it once or twice..but throwing those metal balls into the bucket is definitely more fun, especially the sound
manzo_banco has definitely made it clear! i agree 150% that throwing those balls into the bucket is more fun! haha.. it can be boring if u play it too much at 1 time.
