Apparently the USB modem you get with AOL isn't compatible with Vista, right? You have to get a router and then download a different version of AOL that will work with Vista, called AOL 9.0 VR - how can I get this software onto my laptop (which has Vista meaning that I won't be able to connect it to the internet until I have the correct AOL software for it and a router)? I'll have to download it onto my computer and then find some way of transferring it to my laptop (maybe I'll be able to copy the files onto a CD and then put them on my laptop?)
I might just have to phone AOL up and ask them about it; hopefully they'll manage to make things a bit clearer. I'm finding it all quite confusing.

Correct. Just avoid the AOL software altogether tbh. Buy a router/DSL Modem (I say a Router/DSL modem combo because Vista compatible DSL modems are basically impossible to get) - (I use a Zoom ADSL x5) and set it up via the router software.
And don't phone AOL, their support could be done better by trained monkeys. It's pathetic that they don't even provide a new DSL modem when the standard one becomes obsolete.

Its fine as long as you use a router
