he may have been evil, but face it he knew some awesome magic, and ought to be remembered, who agrees?

In the final chapter, Harry was still famous, and realistically speaking, his claim to fame is causing Voldemort's downfall, regardless of what he might have done in the interim. So Harry is famous by association with Voldemort or vice versa.

he could fly without a broom, i recall it being said (i think in book 1) that flying based on a spell alone was impossible.

In book 7 when harry goes back to hogwarts, he gets the teachers on his side and they chase snape out of the school, but snape jumps from a window and flys away, without a broom.

    without a doubt
The dark lord's magical power sparks a certain admiration, even if he is 'evil'.

I've just bought an early copy of PS, and I can't remember it saying, anywhere, that nothing can fly on its own, just from a spell.

How do we know that Voldemort and Snape flying weren't a very powerful Wingarduim Leviosa?

Or perhaps Voldemort developed a new spell?

I think Rowling should write a book on the life of Voldemort...

    Voldemort was a legend.
To be honest, he owned almost everyone.
