How are you planning to get to Durham?

My boredom levels have reached new depths.

Car

Its the only viable way in my opinion for moving in and out at the beginning and end of the year.

For Christmas and Easter Hols, I get the train home, but for moving all my stuff it has to be by car

I was considering aeroplane as I will be clubbing in Berlin two nights before. But I thought my Dad would be pissed off with me if he had to drive all my stuff up from London, and I flew into Newcastle direct from Berlin.

It would have been such a cool show-off idea though.

Ah well if your stuff is going seperately, why not blow all your loan on chartering a helicopter.

You could touch down on palace green.
Hows that for an impressive enterance?

Nah, cos then I'd have to walk down to Hild Bede. Would ruin it. I suppose I could stop off at Palace Green, wave to Bailey colleges Freshers and then make a final landing at HB.

well mine is no where near as stylish as i will be arriving with the parents but i have no idea what in as we no longer have the usual range rover so either one of my dads business car/vans or just one of the bigger cars as i don't think my ickle corsa could contain all my stuff let alone me and my ma and pa!!!
oh god thats just reminded me how on earth am i going to get everything in the car i mean theres no way i'll be able to fit in all my clothes and other necessitys

My advice is to work out what you think you need, then half it. The amount of junk I brought up to Uni, thinking I could never live without... It either got left in a corner, or never even unpacked.

When it comes to clothes, you are there for 9-10 weeks at a time. You only really need a weeks worth of clothes, which you can then wash at the weekend. Realistically speaking 10days worth to a fortnight may be better.

What clothes I am taking....

Nice tuxedo for balls etc
Old suit for formals

No more than 8-10 shirts. They double well for casual wearing and formals.
2 ties

3 pairs of jeans
4-5 T-shirts. You can underestimate on these, as you will almost certainly buy club/society/JCR tops.

Couple of jumpers for when its cold.

Thats it!

It's also amazing how much you can fit into a car. The amount of stuff I brought back with me from Berlin is unbelievable. It was a Citroën Picasso, mind you.

I shall be making use of a Citroën ZX Estate to move all of my stuff back.

The boredom has really set in for me now.
I think I shall have to check train prices so I can get out of here!
A week up in Durham would be nice!

I've just booked flights with Ryanair to Berlin. Normally, I wouldn't fly with them .. but at 50 quid cheaper than Air Berlin (the next best from Stansted) then it is a bit stupid not to.

I arrive back at Stansted at 23:00 on 2nd October. I dount I will have got to bed before 11am on that Saturday morning after clubbing. Something tells me I will be sleeping all the way up to Durham...

Im getting GNR up to durham, as Id prefer to arrive in one piece (lets not discuss mum's record). I dont plan to take anything two big so I cant see too much problem...

Its a lot easier to take the train up to durham from where i am, but there is a fair amount of stuff id want to bring up with me, so that could be a problem. Although i think it might be better if you only bring a few things up with you for the first couple of weeks, and have the rest join you later.

Ive solved the idea already, see im going from Hull after seeing my boyf, and Ill get him to carry my stuff up.

i shall be going up with my daddy in the car... as my mum has buisness meetings in new york, which are apparently more important than her first born leaving home!!! but she will regret this decision as i am already making her pay. laying the guilt trip thick hehe!!!

after this i shall be flying from newcastle 2gatwick and vica versa!

on what to take with me.. its gotta 2 b my amazing collection of scarves that i have already started.. oh and of course the seriously FIT wooly jumpers!!! ha ha

God, I am getting just as bad with all that. I was visiting a (borderline camp) friend a few months back and since then I have got a thousand and one nivea for men products. It's infectious.

I've been packing books into boxes this afternoon for stuff I want to take to Durham but wont need til then, and so can tidy away up into the loft. I have put in 12 dictionnary type books (der Duden) covering every single aspect of the German language you could possibly imagine. Hmm, probably stupid to take.. but it sure looks good when put out.

I HAVENT EVEN BEGUN TO MAKE MY BEGGING SPEECH YET (as i doubt more each day Ive reached my target grades)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
