An interesting aspect is the Plagues affect on religion. Alot of persecution was aimed at the jews who were blamed causing huge poplation shifts to the East. The Catholic Church's position was also greatly affected. Also looking at the positive aspects that arose is a different perspective. So more jobs available, wages rise etc.

Some basics to know though. Spread from the East. Alot of evidence pointing to it coming to Europe through biological warfare... A few diferent types existed bubonic, pneumonic, septicaemic and possibly others. Different effects everywhere. Total devastation in parts of Italy but Belgium was hardly affected. The plague arguably gave greater feedom in W. Europe but semented serfdom in E. Europe.
