That's the latest date by which your school has to have marked it and internally validated the marking (moderated). They won't want to leave it to the last minute to submit results. The school deadline for you to submit coursework will be much earlier.

The date you have to finish your controlled assessment is when your school tells you to. They need to leave time to mark the work - potentially scheduled round coursework/NEA that has to be marked for other years whilst also teaching and marking as normal - then internally moderate it and give you the marks with time for you to appeal them via your school's appeals process all before the deadline for the marks to be submitted to the exam board. Realistically for AQA GCSE (where the marks have to be with the exam board by 7 May) this means they will have to have completed marking and moderating it before the start of the Easter holidays in order to give time for an appeals process.
