Hi, I am going to King's in September and looks like I won't have accomodation so I am looking at privately renting. I have looked on the link on the KCL website but just can't find anything within my price range. What areas are going to be close enough to the campus but possibly a little cheaper than Hampstead etc? Thanks

    Which campus are you at?

www.gumtree.com is one place to look.

Alternatively, I've noticed in the past that there is usually spare capacity at KCH and Hampstead... give the accommodation office a call and ask specifically for those two?

Facebook or Gumtree might be good places to look, but there are loads of places that link you up with flatmates who need another person!

I'll be studying at the Strand campus... I just don't know where is close to it to be honest. Not living in London means I haven't got a clue about postcodes etc.

If you can afford tube travel then zone 2 is quite good.. i'm living in Barons Court this year (picadilly and district line) but i know people living in Notting Hill, Barbican, Camden, London Bridge, Bermondsey, Lambeth, Elephant and Castle and even New Cross. Buy a street map, useful for next year anyway.

You can go through agencies, you have to pay fees but they usually have a 6 month break clause, so you can leave before 12 months are up. Avoid Flatlands, Flatfinder and Black katz.. try findaproperty.com and propertyfinder.com and ring around the agencies on their... the properties on the websites are often out of date, so it is best to ring it.

Do keep on at the accommodation office, something may come up, or at least you will be put on a waiting list.
