Ridiculous decision. Who is going to take that job with no money to spend and knowing they're guaranteed to get relegated?

It will probably pay a few grand a week, and if things go wrong you'll be sacked in a few months time with a couple of million quid compensation.

I'm sure there will be someone willing to throw their hat in the ring.

Gary Rowett and Alan Pardew the early bookies favourites.

Why does Alan Pardew get jobs? He'sjust come out a job where is team had the worst leagje form of any team in the football league and yet he is still a serious contender? English football does bring this **** on its self sometimes...

Not surprised Phelan has been sacked though, wasn't convinced those first couple of games and he really hasn't made them any better from what I have seen.

Joke decision but hey he's done alright out of it. Got the two year contract by the skin of his teeth only a few months ago so he'll get a nice pay off. Plus if he wants to carry on a management career he's probably shown enough to get a crack at somewhere in the Championship.

Relegation battle is looking boring though. Swansea and Hull all but gone already. One of Sunderland and Middlesbrough to join?

No chance of Boro going down. They're very solid defensively and will grind out enough points to stay up.

Still think Burnley are right in the mix if they don't sort out their away form. Watford dropping like a stone too.

It seems Hull's replacement for Phelan will be left field as they're looking at a six-month deal for Mauro Silva, not heard of him but they're probably hoping he'll be able to do a Pepe Mel at West Brom and somehow eek them over the survival line but long-term, you'd understand if they wanted Rowett to help them back up from the Championship however everything is up in the air at Hull with the takeover rumours, cash being squeezed on players coming in so not an enticing job for anyone atm. Phelan did well as caretaker but ultimately, IMO, he's a good coach and a number two.
