It's yummy but make sure you don't eat much else that day...

WTF! are you mental!!! I would be more worried about getting sufficent nutirents from other food than overdoing it on the calories!!!

Reply 42

Not enough calories IMO.

Err, not really. Have maybe a bowl of cereal for breakfast and a few pieces of fruit or a salad for lunch and then you might get away with eating fish and chips.

If I were to eat any more than that on a given day I'd gain weight. I have an extremely low BMR, I'm small, it takes very little to keep me running.

This probably sounds dumb but I already end up scraping the batter off all my fish since it makes me feel sickly(just too greasy!!), would that affect the calorie content at all?

Cool av btw!

1: How so? You starve your body of nutirents thoughout the day, lacking in protiens and essential fatty acids, then shovel fish and chips down you gob and think that balances it out? Again I ask, are you mental

2: If you got sufficent nutirents and vitamins you would have a more functional digestive system and be able to eat more and process more efficently, 90% of your daily calories in one meal would still casue you to gain weight despite the starving beforehad as your body by admission cannot process much, and you have just dumped a shed load of calories, mainly fat (the hardest to digest) upon it. As it won't be able to utalise them straight away or even within the next 12 or so hours it will store them regardless.

How am I starving my body of nutrients? I've got my 5 a day and a load of fibre right there. Fish has protein btw...

Oh believe me I get BUCKETLOADS of vitamins, seeing as I'm incredibly OCD about it. And I do know that eating earlier rather than later is ftw.

I really wouldn't argue with me on this...

Fish has protein in it omg, I am a competitive strength athlete and never realised. Thanks so much for the info!

Tell me what prey tell do you think nutrients are? Lets say for e.g that you are having 5 bananas for lunch as the most calorific and one of the most nutritional (or one of the) fruits. You are getting approx 445kcals with 0g fat, 61g of sugar and about 5g of protein, along with hardly any essential fatty acids.

Coupled with a bowl of say bran flakes and you get another 3g of protein along with 30g of carbs.

Your totals are about

227.1g carbs
8g protein
2g fats

Now we take the average portion of fish and chips and add it to your totals and then we see how the bucket loads of vitamins are calculated (especially as you mentioned eating earlier rather than later which is an fallacy dependant on activity)

346.35g carbs 1385.4kcals
38.3g proteins 153.2kcals
54.03g fats (of which approx 47g are saturated) 486.27kcals

This gives you an intake of approx 2024.87kcals of which 24% are derived from fats and 21% derived from saturated fats.

Using your carb intake as a model you should have approx 99g protein and 22g fat in total.

So basically you are starving your body of nutrients, proteins and essential fatty acids.

You may not really argue, but I will as you clearly have not a clue what you are talking about for someone who is so OCD about it!!!!

The fish and chips example was a huge exception. To fit that in in this scenario I'm forfieting what I'd normally eat, which might well be some meat or carbs or that stuff you're whining about (I'm not an athlete btw, I get along fine with very few carbs, nobody needs me to run anywhere). This is exactly why I don't eat fish and chips... (although I've been known to split one portion with someone else, that makes it not too bad).
And if I had 2000 calories in a single day that would be pretty bloody catastrophic. I'll only exceed that on very special occasions.

If 2,000's catastrophic, what's normal?

I don't have a no food after 8 pm rule - i have a rule where if i get hungry at night i'm allowed fruit but nothing else.

I have a rule where if I ever become hungry I have to eat 100g of cheddar cheese. Keeps me on my toes.

And I REALLY fancy fish & chips right now.

Reply 55

Every time I start long distance running regularly I have fish and chips 2/3 times a week just to stop losing weight because it falls off even with an extra 2 meals a day!

good excuse if you ask me :yep:

Reply 56

Ooooooooold thread......And you've really made me want Fish and Chips now....

Reply 57

I don't like take out fish and chips, they're just SO greasy. I'd rather eat supermarket fish and oven chips tbh.

Reply 58

I thought a woman's average calorie consumption is 2000 calories? You might drop down to 1500 if you want to lose weight, but you shouldn't really be encouraging people to think that's a normal days limit! I also read that fish and chips is 900/1000 calories - I'm doubtful about your sources...
