Does anybody know how much worse off you are in 5th year with an NHS bursary? How does it work? I'm looking at electives for next year and want to know if I can afford to go abroad. Also any tips on super cheap and relatively safe electives are also welcome!

If you're on the 9k fees they're fairly generous with the practice place expenses, particularly if you drive and have quite distant outfirms. Not at all generous with the 3k fees though. Not sure about the actual bursary though.

My NHS bursary isabout half of what I was getting from Student Finance. But I also got a non-means tested grant/loan (dunno which acually) from SFE, even in final year. That's helped me out a lot, so look into it
