I've sent off an essay and I've done something so stupid. Usually I quote and reference as I go along but today I completed the essay and went referenced it after. Now that it's been submitted through turnitin they've highlighted a chunk where I FORGOT to cite it! Idk what to do! I was thinking to email the tutor and tell him what's happened but what's the point. I've referenced other sources but its this one blatant chunk that I've forgotten!

Help what should I expect or what I can I do to revive myself.

This is quite serious you most likely will be called to a hearing in front of a plagiarism panel where you will need to prove that it was not plagiarism sadly this is a form of plagiarism (no matter how unfair it is) get to the SU they can help and have seen it before.

I can see it going a few ways:

They let you off and just ask you to resubmit with the correct references.

Your asked to redo the assignment and it's capped at 40%.

You get zero and will have to do a make up in the summer capped at 40%.

You will have to resist the whole year you maybe suspended and you'll loose all your marks and be capped at 40%.

    Or you could be expelled.

Personally think it'll be the second or 3rd sorry.
