What made you want to choose Bath University(I repeat Bath University, not Bath Spa) over all the other ones. Was it the superior ranking in the Times Higher Education Table, was it the enticing beauty of the uni, the musty smell about the place, or something entirely different?

I am curious.
ohh what a cool thread....
I chose the university for the rankings(its ranked 4th in Times for Business now) and above that the beautiful place.......its just superb
same, i was set on going to cardiff and then i came to the bath department day and i just fell in love with the uni and ive always loved bath - i cant imagine myself anywhere else!
Bath as a town seemed like a great place to be especially as I have a strong interest in photography, and music (international guitar festival). I heard from a lot of places that it's one of the best Universities for engineering. Also being near Bristol it has the advantages of it's nightlife without the disadvantages of living there (too busy).
I think the fact that they gave me a very high offer, which I didn't think I'd ever get, made me want to go there more (you want what you think you can't have), and I did try harder to achieve the grades. Knowing that everyone else at Bath would have needed similar high grades is reassuring in a way as well. I didn't want to be at a University around people who don't seem like they should be at University (does that sound pretentious?). University has to seem like University to me.
well it was quite a funny story for me, as i think i've said on some post before, i wanted to go york and had kingston and brunel as easier options. so i was left with 3 choices to go on and i did look at the rankings and other students opinions so i chose bath, bristol and southampton. when i went there it was on the applicants day and i absolutely loved it apart from the bus tour LOL (if anyone went on the 7th feb i think, u will understand me).
but yeah i mean in general it was the beauty of the uni and the city, the admissions tutor and staff in general looked really nice and the rankings just made it look even better so.. here i am now
Only problem is i'm now halfway through, and really dont want to ahve to leave in 2 years time... Bath just seems like home now!
So don't leave! I just finished my 4 years, and this is now home - start my job in Bath city centre tomorrow! It was harder finding a job here than London say, but a 7 min walk door-to-door to work is well worth it.
Interesting thread - I suppose the beauty of the city/surroundings, the high rankings and the focus on pramatism (esp. the latter) that made me choose Bath over universities like Oxford or St. Andrews
Well, I'm not at bath uni, but i went to the open day. And i really know what you all mean, I just feel like i could live there happily forever, the city and the uni are just great.....they best give me an offer
I loved the city, and the uni was on level terms with the others i was considering (Birmingham & Southampton) so as a place to live Bath I think will suit me more. Less of a major city but as mentioned above close to Bristol if you fancy a more lively night or whatever.
For me it was between Exeter and Bath, looked at both and they are both really nice places but somehow i just felt like Exeter wasnt for me, i went to both twice and by halfway through the second veiwing of exeter i turned to my mum and said there's no point in staying anymore I've made up my mind. Im not sure what it was to be honest but just seemed like i would be happier at bath
Bath felt like a 'proper' uni more then any other I visited. Felt like it had been there for ages and has a strong background. Plus was good for my course, and had a awesome city.
For me it was primarily the placement scheme (ironic really as I'm about to move from the 4yr to 3yr course coz I don't want to do it). I applied to 6 fairly highly regarded campus unis and visited 4 of them, Warwick got dropped then as they were really rude to me & I didn't like Coventry at all. I then chose Bath because the admissions tutor persuaded me that doing a placement would really improve my prospects as a graduate. I'm sure its true, but I've got a job lined up for when I graduate so I now don't feel the need to leave uni and student life for a year to work at the company I'm going to work at when I graduate anyway.
