I have applied to Eton College on a sixth form scholarship to study in 2017 and I have passed the application stage, thereby reaching the interview stage.

I received an e-mail stating that I will sit an aptitude test while I am there for my interviews. This is the first that I am hearing of this phrase 'aptitude'.

My question is this, what exactly is an aptitude test? Could it be like Verbal or Non-Verbal reasoning?(I feel like I should know, but nothing comes to mind when I read it over and over again ).

    P.S. Thanks in advance!

It's not bad that you don't know, especially in Year 11.

To be honest it's slightly ambiguous so what I would do is email and ask for clarification - i.e. Whether it will be verbal or numerical reasoning or others - I suspect that it is though - further reading below.

The only other thing that comes to mind would be some kind of entry exam (I.e. Testing your gcse knowledge) but I think it refers to the reasoning tests. Once again - ask, no harm in doing so

Google said the meaning of an aptitude test is "a test designed to determine a person's ability in a particular skill or field of knowledge."
i would say what they will do is get you to take a gcse maths and english test (or perhaps a test in the field you wish to study) and see what you are capable of. (i think it will more and likely be about a 20 to 40 minute computer test.)
