Hi I was wondering how gap years work?

Say I was going to take a gap year to study a level maths, how would I go about applying? Because obviously I would need predictions or I wouldn't get an offer by the time I was ready to sit the exam. Could someone clear it up for me?

    Thanks

Your referee is ultimately responsible for your predicted grades. You would need to discuss with them what grade you want to achieve, and your plans/current work to get there. If you decide to have lessons, or to get a tutor, then your referee could also talk to them. If your referee really feels unable to predict a grade then they can explain this in the reference - just a sentence saying "Barry is currently studying A Level maths independently so I feel unable to comment on his future grade" would be sufficient.
