I have done a C3 Solomon paper (G) and the mark schemes aren't very detailed so I don't know if would get the marks for my answer or not.
The question asks you to find the inverse function and I got x2 - 4x - 5 as my answer but the mark scheme has wrote it
    as (2 - x)2 - 9.

Would I lose marks for not writing my answer in this form or would it be okay?

    That would be fine.

That's fine, if you look in the back of any book that has answers, you will see they write it out as you did.

The only issue would be if the question said 'give your answer in the form (a-x)^2 + b'
