How many significant figure is appropriate to put for percentage content of element in a given compound? I was thinking because RMM of the element is given in 4 sf, the answer should be in 4 sf.
But does RMM even matter? Because to find the percentage content I used mass of element/mass of compound x 100. And the actual answer I got is in 3 significant figure. Anyone have an idea?
