Whats In The Rooms?

I thought I'd start a thread on here to ask questions to students that have already been through first year accomodation to help us freshers out.

I've already seen the pics of castle leazes rooms from miki (thanks!) And was just wondering a few things:

Do the rooms in castle leazes have noticeboards? Were there rules against posters on walls (I notice posters in miki's room but my sister was never allowed posters in her uni room in sheff)? And lastly, is the washbasin area separate from the the bedroom?

Any help would be great

I'm crossing my fingers for a full length mirror in Jesmond Road. Are the non-washbasin rooms all like the one tiny photo on the website? They seem quite big with lots of clothes space

I'm just going by my friends' rooms at castle leazes last year, but yes they had notice boards in their rooms. Quite a decent sized one too. My friends had posters up, i think it should be fine as long as you use white tack (think it says about that.) There's a sort of sliding door that blocks of the doorway and then a little cupboard with a washbasin and a shelves etc.

At St Marys College last year, the cleaner (BUY THEM A CHRISTMAS PRESENT DAMMIT EVEN IF ITS JUST A BOX OF CHOCOLATES AND A CARD) cleaned all the communal areas, with a hoover and also cleaned the showers and the sinks. She also did the dishes too, although she never had to do that, and I thank her so much for that. Sometimes the kitchen looked like a war zone.

They do not do any cleaning in your room.

The cleaners at Henderson Hall used to hoover all floors in communal and private rooms, empty bins and clean sinks, showers and toilets including the sink in the room. They also used to check for out of date food in the fridge.

Yep the cleaners at henderson were great...ours went wway beyond the call of duty. She cleaned all the kitchen and washed the dishes and generally tidied it up, it was a right mess. In our rooms she would wash the window, dust any clear surfaces, wash the mirror and sink and hoover. If the floor was messy she would fold up all the clothes onto the chair and make your bed. We LOVED her!

As for whats in your room, we had a 'comfy' chair, desk and chair, 3 little mirrors but no full lengther, sink bed wordrobe and shelves. You could put blu tack anywhere and we had good size notice boards where we could put pins, guess its similar for leazes.

Were you in old hall or in another wing? is it true that rooms with en-suite are a bit bigger or its just a gossip?

nope its not gossip they were MUCH bigger and really nice. They had a normal size bed whereas all the others were tiny and also nicer furniture and an extra table. I didnt live there but knew people who did. They are also differernt to each other and have nice character.
