    can't i get rid of the H on the NH3 to make it NH2^-? And then draw an arrow from the C-Br bond to the BR to get rid of that then add the NH2?

    A dative bond forms from the N of NH3 forming C-NH3+, whilst breaking the C-Br bond, forming Br-

    An N-H bond breaks, (the e- going to the N) forming an H+.

    (Or better, another NH3 forms a dative bond to that H forming NH4+)

    So you gotta stick the stuff on before you do anything else to it?
    I don't really understand but it'll help with any other mechanisms...

    NH3 is basic, it has a lone pair of e- which can form a bond to H+

    There is no chance that NH3 would break down to form H+ and NH2-.
